Yearly Maintenance

A Knight must spend enough libra each year to keep himself and his family well kept. If he can not spend the necessary amount then his family will suffer.

Impoverished
A Knight that can not spend more then 2 libra on his maintenance is considered Impoverished. Impoverished Knights appear in rags, typically have no families or squires and my lack a horse. They can only be Ransomed for the price of a sergeant. An Impoverished Knight is not required to remain loyal to his Lord under the Feudal Oath as his Lord has not provided well enough for him. On the other hand Knights who become Impoverished through poor management of their lands can have them taken away by their Lord.

He also must make a Con roll of lose 1 point of Con as if due to Aging

Poor
A Knight that can spend 3 libra is considered poor. In general poor knights do not have a squire, rides a mangy horse, is hungry and has armor in poor repair.
Glory: Non gained
Stable Roll: -3
Family Roll: -3
Notes: Each year a Knight is poor or impoverished the -3 penalty stacks up to -15.
-5 flat penalty to the childbirth table (does not change with years).

Ordinary
A Knight that can spend 4 to 6 libra is considered an ordinary knight. He can provide well for his family.

Family Roll: 0

Rich
A Knight that can spend between 7 and 9 libra is considered Rich knights. The typically wear fine clothes with ornate jewelry. they typically have two squires.
Glory: The amount of libra spent over 8
Stable Roll: 0
Family Roll: +1

Superlative
Spending over 9 libra means the knight is living a superlative life style. They were gold threads and bright shinning armor. They will have three or more squires attending them and are usually in good health.

Notes: +5 to childbirth table.



Some structures require yearly maintenance to keep them working at peak potential. If the maintenance isn’t payed then the income gained of defensive value of the structure is reduced by 1. The reduced values can be restored if the missed maintenance is payed at 1.5 the normal rate. Improvements can only be reduced to 0.
